The Giants will have a new manager in Gabe Kapler. Bruce Bochy has faded into retirement and Madison Bumgarner is wearing a Diamondbacks uniform. The Giants will have to rebuild if they are going to contend. The few good players Kapler has to work with lack the quality needed to win championships. Catcher-first baseman Buster Posey is beginning to show his age and he can't hit with same power he once did. Third baseman Evan Longoria is in the same boat. Brandon Belt is back to play first and Brandon Crawford will again be the shortstop. The Giants have two good outfielders in Mike Yastrzemski and Alex Dickerson. Mauricio Dubon offers some promise at second base. Fans are glad to see Hunter Pence back in the outfield. The rotation again will have veterans Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija, followed by Kevin Gausman and Drew Smyly. The bullpen is weak with Tony Watson the closer.
